In 2008 GlowRed.com decided to launch a web site based on the Victoria Cross medal and so TheVictoriaCross.net was started and launched.

Victoria Cross MedalThe Victoria Cross is the highest decoration for valour in the British armed forces, awarded for extreme bravery in the face of the enemy. It was instituted in 1856 by Queen Victoria with the first crosses being awarded during the Crimean War (also known as the Russian War) that lasted from 1854 to 1856.

TheVictoriaCross.net Home PageThe TheVictoriaCross.net web site is split into two main sections relating to the history and recipients of the Victoria Cross (VC). The history section is split across a number of pages and sections and gives a detailed insight into the Victoria Cross from its inception through to design and manufacture to awarding the medal, colonial and commonwealth VC's and even some famous VC actions. The recipients section shows all recipients of the Victoria Cross and can be viewed by surname, date or country of action. Each recipient will have a page dedicated to them, although this section is still under development.

The third part of TheVictoriaCross.net web site will be a shop. At the present time this is under development and is based on the Dorchesters.com web site shopping experience. This part of the site will sell a number of reproduction medals in both full size and miniature. Additional revenue is generated through advertising on each page, using Google Adwords.

The ongoing focus for the site is to continue researching all of the Victoria Cross winners, thus driving more traffic to the site. More traffic will also increase advertising revenue and also increase sales through the online shop.
