Founded by Carl Read, GlowRed.com started as a web design consultancy in 1998 located in Birmingham in the United Kingdom. As the business developed a decision was made to move away from web site design for other companies and to concentrate on launching a number of successful web based solutions in partnership with existing businesses or solutions owned and managed totally by GlowRed.com. To date the growth and the accompanying expansion of GlowRed.com has depended on both acquisitions and organic expansion.

Between 1998 and 2004 a number of one-off web sites were designed and launched by GlowRed.com including de-tect.co.uk, ukphonesales.com and scrapmetalrecycling.com.

In 1999 GlowRed.com started a long-term partnership with Westair Reproductions Ltd, which is still ongoing to this day. The initial web site GlowRed.com designed offered Westair the opportunity to show its products on the Internet for the first time. In 2002 a new domain www.westair-reproductions.com and web site was set up which primarily focused on obtaining business from retail customers and to also promote Westair Reproductions as a company. In 2006 a new site www.westair.co.uk was introduced solely for trade customers and although the site was developed by an osCommerce specialist the design and layout of the site was performed by GlowRed.com.

In 2002 GlowRed.com formed a joint partnership with Travel Basics, a company providing travel insurance products aimed at the consumer market. GlowRed.com designed a completely new web presence, Travel-Basics.com, to enable the company to sell its travel insurance policies online. Travel Basics provided all of the marketing, promotion and travel insurance polices whilst GlowRed.com provided the web site and online support. GlowRed.com generated profit from commission payments made from each online sale obtained. In 2005 the partnership was mutually terminated.

In 2004 GlowRed.com made its first acquisition when it purchased a small company called Dorchesters Coins. Dorchesters Coins specialised in selling rare reproduction metal coins that at the time were sold directly to a small number of personal customers. In 2005 GlowRed.com launched Dorchesters.com online and also added to the coin range a number of reproduction medals. Since 2005 a significant number of new and rare coins and medals have been added to the online collection. Dorchesters.com currently has a range of over 280 products consisting of over 220 coins and 60 medals as well as a number of additional specialist products.

In 2007 the domain names my-iphone.com and my-iphone.co.uk were purchased by GlowRed.com with the intention of offering an email service for Apple iPhone users. A decision was soon made to extend the service and the domains F1mail.com and WizzMail.com were acquired. The email services were to be sold under the brand name of EmailStore.com. Due to the complexity of establishing an email service with recurring charges specialist developers were sought. High set up costs and a long term return on the investment put the project on hold, although trials were made with Google Apps to see if a less costly solution could be established.

In June 2008, GlowRed.com aquired the domain CatchVideo.net and a basic web site that offered a revolutionary and free service allowing customers to convert and save YouTube videos into a number of different video formats. The site was translated into French, German and Italian. Traffic was grown from 3,000 visitors a day to nearly 5,000 visitors a day and revenue was generated through online advertising. The server hosting the web site was running at maximum capacity and a decision was made to sell the domain name and associated web site. In October 2008 the domain and web site were sold at auction.

GlowRed.com decided to generate revenue from the domain names it owned but were not active. EmailStore.com, my-iPhone.com and wizzmail.com were all parked with sedo.com. By using the natural traffic generated by the domains Sedo displays relevant advertising pages relating to each domain name utilising their advertising partners such as Google. Every time a consumer clicks on one of the advertisements a payment is made to GlowRed.com.

The Dorchesters.com web site will be expanded to offer even more products. With the success of Dorchesters.com a new site is has been launched called TheVictoriaCross.net. This site is dedicated to the Victoria Cross and those who have been awarded it. Revenue will be generated through online pay per click advertising and an online shop. The site is online although it is still being developed.

As the EmailStore.com project has proved unviable the EmailStore.com, WizzMail.com and F1Mail.com domains have been put up for sale at sedo.com. In October 2008 the EmailStore.com domain name was sold.

With the launch of the iPhone 3G, GlowRed.com has decided to launch an iPhone dedicated web site using the my-iphone.com and my-iphone.co.uk domain name. The web site is due to launch in 2009.

After the successful sales of CatchVideo, the domain names CatchYouTube.com, CatchYouTube.net and Catch-Video.com have been purchased. The development of the CatchYouTube.com web site has started which will enable users to convert and download YouTube movies and videos using an improved user interface and core software platform.

GlowRed.com is actively looking for new business opportunities and will be investing in companies and products where it can identify a need for an online presence that will generate a revenue stream.
